Dali style of the artist, but religious themes?

I remember seeing the American Art Review magazine, years ago, this artist who painted pictures of me much like Dali, but had a religious theme to them and had a lot of symbolism in them. One image was a man wearing a crown trying to catch the poker cards death stands behind him holding an ace card.I I think he was born in Spain and has since died … Internet searches turn up nothing, I guess he is not very known.Thanks help.
